Program Overview

Typical referrals include patients with frequent complaints of forgetfulness such as forgetting names, forgetting appointments, losing things, new onset language problems, impaired thinking, impaired attention/concentration, or a recent change in personality or behavior.

Using diagnostic and treatment advances, patients are provided with a thorough assessment, diagnosis and comprehensive treatment as well as counselling, education and guidance for family caregivers.

Our team offers highly specialized services in areas of mild cognitive impairment (MCI), Alzheimer's disease (AD), Lewy body dementia (LBD), frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and related disorders. All these services are covered by OHIP.

At CAMH, Memory Clinic patient care is integrated with research in the Geriatric Psychiatry Division that focuses on novel assessments, treatments and preventative interventions under the framework of integrated care pathways (ICP). The Memory Clinic also has a partnership with the Toronto Dementia Research Alliance (TDRA). While providing quality care to our patients, we are developing novel interventions for prevention and treatment of memory loss. We are also working on improving assessment and treatment of behavioural problems associated with dementia such as agitation, aggression, apathy, psychosis and mood problems. Clients have access to the latest interventions under development through participation in different research studies.
